Description:My work explores colour, layered surfaces, and composition drawing on early French Modernism (Vuillard, Matisse, Cezanne) rather than gestural abstraction. Each painting is conceived as a resolved world rather than a variation on a formula.
Inspiration: I'm drawn to many influences, mainly early French Modernism, I'm not trying to copy Vuillard or Matisse, but instead use them as a starting point to create something that could sit beside them in a museum.
